★“你好” is the most common term used when you meet somebody. This term is suitable to any occasion and is usually the first word learned by foreigners studying Chinese. It is as superficial as hello and is often used to greet somebody you are not familiar with or meet for the first time. Therefore non Chinese would use “你好” to greet his girlfriend or his relatives.
