★“您”is the word added a “心”(heart) to the bottom of the word“你”. It means to respect you with heart. This word “您”is used very commonly in northern china while is only used in writing or a very formal occasion in southern china. Chinese generally ask for somebody’s family name instead of full name when they meet for the first time and they may ask which noble family name it belongs to. As Chinese historically regard the family’s honor and background higher than their personal standing, this habit is a kind of tradition showing respect to their ancestors.
